Drop us a mail or give us a call if you have any questions.

Choose the correct package

Everyone's internet needs are different. Some private homes are empty during the day with a full house in the evenings where other homes are buzzing with activity during the day. Some businesses operate a strict 08h00 to 17h00 where others run 24/7.

  1. Firstly look at when (at what times) you will need the most bandwidth (Speed - Horsepower)

  2. How many residents or employees need to video stream during those times.

  3. Remember, video streaming usually uses the most bandwidth.

If you have multiple users streaming video after hours you might need to beef up your line speed. You can easily upgrade your package if you need to do so. (30 days notice is required)

If you or the kids are active online gamers, you need to look at a service provider that offers a low latency line

If you own a guesthouse and you want to offer WiFi to all your guests or, you own a business with a server, printers, pay points, cctv and a network, make sure to speak to us first before signing up so we can advise you on the best options available to you.

You are welcome to contact us if you need help with making this decision.

Apply for Satellite internet

1. You have the option of an outright purchase, where you buy the equipment and sign up on a month to month basis. No credit check is required, and the process obviously runs a lot faster. This option will set you back around R10 000 excluding additional traveling cost. if any. From here you pay monthly for the package you decided on. (Give us a ring or drop us a mail if you would like to use this option.)

2. Then there is the 24 Month Service agreement where you buy the equipment over 24 months. Your contract fee is R999 upfront (Additional traveling fees will be added depending on where you are, if any. From here you pay monthly for the package you decided on.

Installation

Once your paperwork is in order and upfront payments are made, the installation process will start.

Please keep the following in mind.

  1. We need a sturdy brick / concrete (North facing) wall to fit the Satellite Dish. (No obstructions / trees)

  2. Very old and soft sandstone homes required additional equipment for fitment. (Additional costs)

  3. The dish location needs a clear view of the sky. The dish is set to around 50 Degrees dependent on your location.

  4. A Satellite Dish cannot be fitted to a Wendy or prefab home.

  5. The Installation Technician is not allowed to climb onto roofs or into ceilings. (Safety and Liability)

  6. The cable run is done on the outside of the building, not through the ceiling.

  7. The Installation Technician is not allowed to make setting changes to third party equipment. (Cameras, Printers, Laptops ets.)

Satellite Internet Limitations

A Cloudy sky doesn't seem to affect the Satellite system. We have been on a VSAT system for more than 2 years with no issues, however, thunder storms with lightning does affect it.

Whether you are in New York on a fiber type connection or in Orania on Satellite, one thing stays the same. Line speed will drop during peak use hours. No one on this earth can guarantee you internet line speed. The ISP's call it best effort. To combat this we beefed up our line so we can operate at full speed in the evenings.

Real internet speeds come down to a combination of bandwidth and latency. Latency = delay or Lag as it is also known. It is the amount of delay (or time) it takes to send information from one point to the next. Latency is usually measured in milliseconds or ms. It is also referred to as a ping rate. Satellite based internet solutions are a high latency solution with an average achieved delay time of around 650 milliseconds. The reason for this is that the dish on your building connect to a satellite that is in orbit at about 37 000 km above the surface of the earth. The time taken for the information to travel from your home terminal to the orbiting Satellite and back to earth is 650 ms.

Your VPN will slow thing down even more. Here's why...

The very nature of a VPN prevents access to the data within the tunnel. This prevents the modem and the satellite platforms from using their sophisticated acceleration techniques to accelerate the data. Without this acceleration the data traffic does not perform as well on these high latency networks.

Satellite Internet Benefits

Satellite communication is known for its reliability advantages over any terrestrial connections, as it runs totally independent of any local last mile terrestrial infrastructure.

Terrestrial infrastructure is prone to theft, vandalism, natural disasters and long-term network outages.

It offers ubiquitous coverage across the whole of South Africa. You get the same service anywhere in South Africa

It offers new high throughput, high speed bandwidth profiles ranging from 5Mbps; 10Mbps; 20Mbps; 30Mbps; 50Mbps and possible 100Mbps coming soon.

Faster than what most local wireless services in underserviced areas can provide.

It is extremely cost effective – Costs ranging from R 3.50 per GB to R 4.50 per GB, subject to profile and term selected

It is quick to deploy anywhere in South Africa

High bandwidth availability

High Reliability – it is the most reliable network you can have. Less single points of failure, less connection points in the network that can result in outages

Certain entertainment applications are successfully supported by Satellite Broadband. You can stream Netflix and YouTube, within the limitations of latency and the correct quality settings on the streaming platform.

You must ensure that you set the quality settings of your streaming application to the lowest possible setting. If this is not done you will consume your data rapidly and whatever Fair Usage Policy will be reached and activated sooner than you expect.

Streaming applications use huge amounts of data. To access South African based streaming applications, you will need a South African facing IP and this will be supplied at an additional charge.

How much Data does online streaming use?

If you opt to stream videos in higher resolution at 60 frames per second, the data usage increases to 1.86GB per hour for 720p, 3.04GB per hour at 1080p, and 15.98GB per hour for videos in 4K

How many hours does it take to use 1gb of data?

1GB (or 1024MB) of data lets you send or receive about 1 000 emails and browse the Internet for about 20 hours every month.

So 200GB you can send 200 000 emails, browse 4 000 hours of Internet which is approximately 5 months of Internet searches.

200GB at 720p or 60 Frames per second is approximately 106 movies a month, this is 5 hours a day of watching movies – every day of the week.

Online Gaming has limitations, but turn-based games work effectively. These games are defined as casino games and strategy games, such as chess. However, the majority of real-time, multi-player, first person shooting games played on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation will not work over any satellite internet service, due to the latency or delay

BENEFITS

REACH

VSAT can deliver high-speed broadband unhindered even in areas where the most basic mobile networks are lacking. In many regions of Africa, especially across its vast deserts and dense jungles, the installation of terrestrial lines is impractical and is likely to remain so for the foreseeable future.

RELIABILITY

VSAT technology is unaffected by weather or regional conditions such as an unstable power grid. As a result, users can rely on uninterrupted connectivity.

QUICK DEPLOYMENT

Provided that the satellite is already in orbit, deploying a VSAT service to your customers is so easy. It can be done in a few short hours and requires minimal competency from the user.

SCALABILITY

Upscaling a VSAT service is seamless, inexpensive and hassle-free.
